Browsing my computer files, I found an old text file I saved off back in 1995.  The source was a message post in what was known as the USENET groups which are a large number of discussion message boards.

The text is a reply to someone's post which appears to call the King James version (KJV) of the Bible supporting New Age doctrine and that the NIV fixed the error.  The person who posted the reply is named “Richard” and I have not been able to find him.  This was a good post and shows some examples of huge differences between the KJV and the NIV Bibles.  While I beleive the basic message in the same, there are a lot of fine points that can cause gigantic doctrinal issues.

Personally, I do not care much for the NIV as you can see there are many passages that have either the meaning changed or have been completely left out, but at the same time, I am sure the same could be said for the KJV compared to the originals if we ever were to find them.  I know this though, the KJV of the Bible is the one that has primarily been used for the foundation of many of our doctrines, which in the last 150 years have seen a huge awakening of the power of God upon this planet.  The teachines in the KJV draw people to Yeshua, repentance and holiness while showing the Body of Yeshua has great power and authority through the Christ.

Here is the post, while I have not went through all the references, those that I have do show a great difference and loss of meaning.  If you are a NIV fan, be sure to keep your eyes on the footnotes in that version to make sure you get the rest of the story.

Note:  I did clean up some major typos I noticed, but for the most part it is the same as posted back in 1995.

Now, I DO NOT print anything false TO MY KNOWLEDGE...
When I post something, I check it out to the max, otherwise I would be
bearing false witness...

I have no idea where this man got his fouled up data, so I went through
the Bible today to give you the truth...

HAVE I CHECKED IT OUT?

Of sourse I did...

Read this...

Here is the lists of NEW TESTAMENT ONLY (Old testament would be huge) verses left out...

Ask yourself... "Who would benefit most from leaving out these specific words?

And after you have read these and answered the question, you will come to the conclusion that THESE must be VERY important, and MUST BE THE MOST DANGEROUS WORDS in the BIBLE, ... FOR SATAN!

Memorize these well, and take them to heart, these MUST be good, for him to remove them!

If THE NIV IS INCORRECT, and the KJV does not match my Greek,
WHAT GREEK DO YOU USE?

Answer:
The KJV does not match YOUR greek, because YOUR GREEK matches YOUR NIV...

YOUR GREEK IS WRONG, that is why your NIV is wrong...

THERE IS THE GREEK that the NIV was derived from (virtually the only kind
you CAN buy now) and the AUTHORIZED Greek, which matches the KJV and DOES NOT
CONTAIN THE MAJORITY of errors text..

Look for the word MAJORITY in your preface...
If you see the word MAJORITY, then you are in the MAJORITY of NIV
error

WHAT IS THE MAJORITY?

THE MAJORITY TEXT is the subject of something called REFRAMING

Reframing means PUTTING A NEW NAME ON SOMETHING SO IT SOUNDS GOOD

kind of like putting FRESH CHICKEN on FROZEN chickens, just to sell them...

THE MAJORITY TEXT was named, because they took the MAJORITY of Manuscripts (about 400) that matched the SINAITICUS and VATICANUS (catholic basement versions)  they did not take the MAJORITY of texts...

there were 5700 texts to choose from...
Now, how can you, in all good christian conscience, tell me that
400 is the MAJORITY of 5700?

Pretty interesting eh?

Anyway.  MAJORITY TEXT = VATICANUS = SINAITICUS = ERROR = DOUAY =
JEHOVAHS WITNESS BIBLE...

ONLY TWO GREAT UNCIALS (earliest) HAVE ERRORS and match the MAJORITY TEXTS
THE REAL MAJORITY OF UNCIALS match the KJV!!!!

Here is how it goes

lettersof the apostles collected and copied --->
to
--> UNCIALS ->good uncials (a lot)-->Waldensians-->King James
            -> Bad uncials (2)?vaticanus_>hid in cellar->MAJORITY->DOUAY

SO YOU HAVE HAD WOOL PULLED OVER YOUR EYES...
they have been USING BAD GREEK TEXTS to prove NIV CORRECT!!!
Don't fall for it...

THOSE GREEK TEXTS the two Bad UNCIALs were PUT ON THE DUNG HEAP by CALVIN...
(of course they then killed him)
That proves those Uncials don't belong on the trash heap, they said...
and the NIV has the nerve to say those 2 out of 20 or so are the
MOST ACCURATE?
Most accurate with NIV, yes, but most corrupt with NIV also...

some reasoning...
Don't believe me, believe your KJV!

(kind of catchy, eh?)

Thise are the the facts...
MAJORITY TEXT = DON't WAST YOUR MONEY

look on your preface of your GREEK TEXT...
If it says majority, then it is a good partner with your NIV in
the waste bin...

---HERE IS A POSTING I RECEIVED...
********************************************************
>> scriptures.On Mon, 25 Sep 1995
>> Dear Sir,
>
>> I thank you for your extensive research.    I'm sure you have
spent countless hours exploring the differences between these two
versions of the most holy scriptures.
>>
>> The subject was repentance, my Greek interlinear is missing
the word  "metanoia" in Matthew 9:13.
>>You do know that the Greek word for repentance  is "metanoia"?
Of course you do!  I am also not showing that word in Mark 2:13
as well.
>
>> In Luke 4:4 my direct Greek translation is missing the word
"Theos"  or God, but of course you know your Greek well.

>> What gives?

>> Could my Greek bible be wrong?

>>I've seen an NIV Bible that tried to explain the words "through
his blood"  in Colossians 1:12 as being >>added later.

>>In this case I would have to go with an earlier manuscript than
a later one.

YES! THE EARLIER MANUSCRIPTS, the UNCIALS MOSTLY MATCH THE KING
JAMES UNCIALS!
THE "MAJORITY TEXT UNCIALS ARE IN ERROR, THE SINAITICUS, and
VATICANUS---"
The NIV USES THESE and calls them THE MOST ACCURAT VERSIONS!!!
The NIV ACTUALLY BEARS FALSE WITNESS in many places by adding and
leaving out texts Because ITS UNCIALS also left them out.
I will try to explain...

(wait till you see the JESUIT - HORT text posting I put up, the
NIV calls the ONLY TWO CORRUPT ORIGINIAL UNCIALS the ONLY TWO
CORRECT VERSIONS ! In this post!)

I was shocked and scared at the same time when I saw the
deliberate deviousness in the NIV translators..., (although it
could be honest error in SOME people, it stands to reason that
SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE had to make this deliberate deviousness of
removing and changing, come forth INITIALLY!!!

That is what happens when we lean on the arms of even ONE devious
flesh...

The Bible promises our sure destruction if we do this!!!

Jer 17:5  THUS SAITH THE LORD; CURSED BE THE MAN THAT TRUSTETH IN
MAN, AND MAKETH FLESH HIS ARM, AND WHOSE HEART DEPARTETH FROM THE
LORD.
Jer 17:6  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall
not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in
the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
Jer 17:7  Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose
hope the LORD is.
Jer 17:8  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and
that spreadeth... any way read it for yourself...

>> I don't want people adding   words to my Bible let alone take
them away!!

AMEN AMEN.

>> What could they add to a perfect text like the Bible?

Since the BIBLE IS ALL TRUTH, they could  only add Error.

>>Revelation 22:18 says it true "For I testify unto every man
that heareth the words of the prophecy of >>this book, If any man
shall add unto these things,  God shall add unto him the plagues
that are written >>in this book."
>>So I wonder which Greek translation you are using in your quest
for a more perfect Bible.
Because mine is missing words that the KJV adds.

NOT QUITE... YOUR TEXT HAS DELETED THE PORTIONS that the KING
JAMES HAD!!!

If you go to a store and buy a GREEK, you will 98% of the time
get the MAJORITY (ERRORED) greek as it is the only one that
MATCHES THE NIV!!!

(Do you see now?)

It is getting nearly impossible to get an "authorized" Greek
anymore...
three years ago I spent most of the day trying to find one...
They said it could be had from...
Henderson publishers, but now, the only one they had acknowledes
it ADDS the MAJORITY TEXT...
in DIFFICULT SITUATIONS... It is corrupt too..

I will keep checking on where a good one can be found...
I will let you know... IF THEY ARE STILL AVAILABLE...

YOU WANT AN AUTHORIZED VERSION GREEK...
If  you can find it anymore, you have gold!

Mat 13:19  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and
understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth
away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received
seed by the way side.

THEY SELL MOSTLY THE BAD GREEK VERSION now!!! TO MATCH THE NIV...

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?

the best GREEK TRANSLATION is RIGHT IN YOUR HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

God isGREAT and WISE...

The virtual IDENTICAL translation from the GOOD GREEK, is the
KING JAMES VERSION!!!

God is so wise!

READ IT EXACTLY AS IT SAYS THINGS!
YOU HAVE THE AUTHORIZED GREEK IN YOUR HANDS!

FOR ALL THE GREEK I KNOW,
SALVATION IS NOT to the
GREEKERS
or HEBREW SCHOLARS!!!

God PROMISED He would keep his word pure...
since the NIV removes and adds, it is not pure...
since it contradicts, it is not God's word...

ALL THE GREEK TEXTS SEEM TO side with the MAJORITY,
the LAST CORRECT AUTHORIZED GREEK PRINTING I KNOW OF was in 1902
called
THE NEW TESTAMENT IN THE ORIGINAL GREEK ACCORDING TO THE TEXT
FOLLOWED BY THE AUTHORIZED VERSION edited by F.H.A. Scrivener and
published 1894-1902

Amen and God rest in peace the last Greek I know of that was
totally correct...

BUT HIS WORD DOES NOT DIE...

God said HIS WORD would be available to all..

BY FAITH, pick up your KJV, and you have the CORRECT GREEK!

DID YOU KNOW THE KJV IS NOT OLD ENGLISH?

This is the big untruth being told, THAT THE KING JAMES VERSION
IS OLD FASHIONED!
OLD FASHINED? NO WAY!

READ THE INTRODUCTION to the KING JAMES VERSION!
THAT IS OLD ENGLISH!
Sounds like modern English...

SOUNDS JUST LIKE OUR speach...
NO thee's and THOUS....
y
READ IT... you willl see..
They did not speak with KING JAMES SYNTAX in 1610!

WHY THEES AND THOUS IN THE BIBLE?

BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT GREEK SOUNDS LIKE!

the YE's are pleural yous, the YOU's are singular yous the THOU's
are different tenses of ye's  etc

THE NIV allegedly "IMPROVED" this by making first and second
person singular and pleurals all YOU...

THAT IS AN IMPROVEMENT?
no, that is confusion...

And it definitely makes HUGE differences in doctrinal issues in some spots...

think about that...

I HAVE THE PERFECT, UNADULTERATED GREEK right here in my trembling little hands...
It is called the KJV Bible...

IT IS THE MOST ACCURATE TRANSLATION word for word of the 1902
text that exists..(actually the other way around, but still the same point)

Save your money on Greek versions...

When someone comes spouting Greek to you, tell them this...

I don't speak Greek...

1 Cor 14:27  If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
1 Cor 14:28  But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
So it applies to Greek also...
the person speaking or showing GREEK should not do so UNLESS BOTH KNOW GREEK...

WE DON"T NEED GREEK...  WE DONT NEED HEBREW...
WE NEED JESUS AND HIS WORD... KJV

I only bring forth the Greek to those OTHERS who SAY they know Greek on the net,
but need clarifying that they have a corrupt Greek...
Now...

Oh well, forget that point...
God will not let ANY of HIS OWN FALL, I believe that with all my heart. Leave them alone after the first warning, it is then their responsibility to pray about it...
God will lead...

So I warn, and then I will be silent... I DO NOT CONVERT, I just
warn.  That is all...
The Holy Spirit converts...

I will not take a chance on MY Salvation with the ACKNOWLEDGEDLY
CHANGED scriptures!
THE KJV is usually CHEAPER!  (Special clearance off the shelf
prices,  look and see...)

THEY ADMIT NIV IS CHANGED, of COARSE THEY DO...
Iof course, and then they excuse it becasue it IMPROVES the PAVEMENT on the ROAD to HELL and makes it easier for others to walk that way...
Amen.

I have my perfect Greek translation, it is the KJV...
Perfect enough for Salvation...
This is NOT true of the NIV... Sorry...
200 million Hindus think they are right also... No. they are not....

If I take my KJV and remove ALL PUNCTUATION,
it would be IDENTICAL with the Greek...
Just ignore your punctuation... then you have a perfect Bible...

Now, devil, see if you can take THAT away from me!

BUT, for BIBLE STUDY, you need a concordance...
YOU MUST ALSO GET THIS... A CONCORDANCE..

ONE OF THOSE KJV (if you can find them) Electronic handheld bibles is WONDERFUL! Sell your NIV's to buy one!

Some concordances are CROSS NUMBERED WITH THE HEBREW GREEK INTERLINEAR...But since we don't need Greek or Hebrew, who cares?)

But then... HOW DO I FIND THE MEANING OF A WORD IF I DON't HAVE GREEK?
like the Bible says...

Isa 28:10  For precept must be upon precept, precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there
a little:

take your electronic BIBLE CONCORDANCE (99 bucks) punch in COMMANDMENTS, and read ALL OF THEM  YOU will then understand ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT IT...

THAT IS BIBLE STUDY...
THAT IS EASY...
AND you don't need a D.D. degree to persecute others with either...

Remember,

Jesus is the HIGH PREIST:
Heb 3:1  Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; AND YOU ARE THE PREIST:
Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

THE BIBLE SAID IT...
SO BE IT...
AMEN

See what Bible study does?

If you looked up HIGH PREIST and PREIST in a BIBLE DICTIONARY, you would get all confused...
The Bible is clear...
(I wonder if the NIV acknowledges this, someone check it out, would you?)
thanks...

YOU ARE A PRIEST...

for scholars, knowing a language can be a enlightenment (boon) and a bane ( PRIDE)

(D.D. stands for .. DUMB DOGS sometimes...
Isa 56:10  His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all DUMB DOGS, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.
Isa 56:11  Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
Isa 56:12  Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.not necessary to be saved though...

HERE IS HOW MUCH WE SHOULD BELIEVE PASTORS...

Jeremiah 2:8 (KJV)  The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.

Jeremiah 10:21 (KJV)  For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

Jeremiah 12:10 (KJV)  Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

Jeremiah 17:16 (KJV)  As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee.

Jeremiah 22:22 (KJV)  The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

Jeremiah 23:1 (KJV)  Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 23:2 (KJV)  Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

HERE IS THE ONLY GOOD MENTION: Jeremiah 3:15 (KJV)  And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

1/8 good pastors, 7/8 bad pastors...

Hmmm.

STRONGS CONCORDANCE CAN BE Purchased AT:
(Other concordances are good too, but don't get the Scoffeild's
version of anything, the margins and crossreferences fit NICLEY
with NIV...

So don't bother getting one of them...

I spent two days getting a KING JAMES interlinear Greek  AFTER
ASKING SPECIFICALLY FOR AUTHORIZED VERSION, THEY PROMISED ME
SEVERAL TIMES IT WAS AUTHORIZED ONLY and NO MAJORITY TEXT...
I spent the MONEY and then found on the inside cover this HEART-
STO\PPING statemnt
"some contradictory texts were resolved with the MAJORITY

even now, the call the MAJORITY with enough clout to CHANGE THE

Oh, woe is us...

We are TOLD to shudder...
Heb 12:20  (For they could not endure that which was commanded,
And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned,
or thrust through with a dart:
Heb 12:21  And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I

Heb 12:22  But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of
the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable
company of angels,

Yes the truth of the COMMANDMENTS were to quake at, and the Devil
has NEARLY the whole world now REMOVED EVERY REFERENCE TO THE
COMMANDMENTS IN THE NEW TEXTAMENT...

Broad is the way...

>> So I wonder which Greek translation you are using in your
quest for a more perfect Bible.

KJV and a concordance...

>> Because mine is missing words that the KJV adds.

(Remember, yours is missing the words THAT SHOULD BE THERE)

Only the Holy Spirit could have shown you this...
To ACTUALLY QUESTION A "BIBLE TRANSLATION" Because God CANNOT
LIE!  You are a child of Jesus own heart..."
You...
know Him well...

ANSWER: Yes. Your Greek Bible is in error...  Yes it is.
EVERY DD will crucify me now, so what...
It is still true...
And I will show it...

THE UNCIALS were the earliest versions written in capitals only and no punctuation. THEY ALL MATCH the KJV in these texts such as the Rev 14:12 text.   EXCEPT FOR TWO! and the SINAITICUS and VATICANUS GREEK UNCIALS WERE THE ONES CHANGED but CONSTANTINES COHORTS!!!  MARCION the CHANGELING did it...

The pre, nicean fathers said so...

This will be shown much more clearly... In the next few posts...

WHAT TO DO... WHAT TO DO...

This is what The BIBLE Suggests...

GO  :
ASK FOR FORGIVENESS as we sinned unknowingly (I did too.)

1.GOTOBOOKSTORE.
Amen!
2. BUY KING JAMES VERSION (a GOOD QUALITY ONE)

AMEN AMEN.
3. Buy a good CONCORDANCE (which will have the worthless greek
cross references, from the majority text and I don't need them....).
THROW ALL OTHER RELIGIOUS TRASH IN THE CIRCULAR FILE...
Including Bible dictionaries... Yes there is some good, but they will ALL lead you away from repentance...

PRAY A WHOLE LOT that GOD will send His very own HOLY SPIRIT through the POWER of the BLOOD OF JESUS our ONLY WAY TO CHRIST, and will send us knowledge.  As WE ARE HIS PRIESTS, ask Him to to send the HOLY SPIRIT to open as many eyes as will see...

MEMORIZ... MEMORIZE... MEMORIZE...

I personally, alone, believe that soon the very  KING JAMES BIBLE  will not be available...

Do not believe me?

No one will sell it anymore!

I went to get a leather bound large print ...OUT OF PRIINT...

I went to by a miniature sip up....OUT OF PRINT

I went to get  the KING JAMES GREEK (AUTHORIZED TEXT) ..out of print

"We don't sell any King James Bible anymore..."
I could special order it, lets see if any of our warehouses has
them... No, that oone is out of stock... Sorry..."

So ends civilization...
BUT, wait, DOESN'T HISTORY repeat itself?
Remember the flood? Fire instead of water this time?
...

WE SOON WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY the KJV AUTHORIZED.....

NO ONE WILL PRINT IT ANYMORE, ones the backlash hits...

You want to hear something REALLY SAD?

FUNDAMENTALISTS used to mean BELEIVE IN THE WORD OF GOD EXACTLY... KJV was the onl;y version they read...  NOW, they ALL USE NIV!

If you were a fundamentalist back then, and REMAINED A FUNDAMENTALIST NOW...

you would have HDA TO

either
1. change your beleifs...
Or ignore the NIV...

TRUTH DOES NOT CHANGE...

REPENTANCE AND REVIVAL WAS  KEY...

NOW CELEBRATION AND PARTY

Something is seriously wrong...

THE corruption of the world will be complete...

(FUNDAMENTALISTS will be hated, psychiatrists will state EVIL BOOKS MAKE EVIL MINDS, and the law will be passed for a PC Bile Bible that allows homosexuality, sin, multiple paths to God...

fortunatly there will still be people standing in the streets PREACHING from their HEARTS the PC INCORRECT BIBLE! they will have their head cut off...

There IS one good thing about the NIV... the Bible says

Psa 119:161  Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
Psa 119:162  I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
Psa 119:163  I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
Psa 119:164  Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
Psa 119:165  Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

John 15:20  Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord.

THE SERVANT CAN'T change HIS WORD...

Since we are going to be persecuted for HIS WORD, then, if you have the NIV, you WON'T be persecuted! (One good thing about this, temporarily any way... (until the plagues...)

Jesus "stubborn cold-hearted, politically incorect followers" (who incidentally hate and are bigoted according to some) would all be killed if God did not step in first...

Mat 24:22  And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

God will have to save His own Politically INcorrect incorrect followers...
Moses was NOT PC...
Elijah was NOT PC...

ZECHARIAH, DANIEL, JESUS, all were NOT politically correct...

Truth is truth, and it will not die...
Jesus is the only answer...

Not Buddha.
Not Hinduism...
Not Taoism...But CHRIST...

Pray DAILY...

God bless...

Keep studying...

Richard...

Interesting, very interesting.

I've had an NIV for most of my life, so this seems really intriguing to me.

I recently bought a translation of the Bible called "The Message", ever heard of it, Thinker? Basically, it's not a word-for-word transliteration, but rather, a paraphrase translation into modern language. I know some people don't care for modern language bibles, but a lot of people don't realize the the Bible was originally written in "modern" language of the people, not some high elevated language it's modernly translated in.

But despite how much I like that translation, I've read at least 6 pieces in the New Testament where the meanings were changed in order to fall in line more with modern Christian theology.

Anyways, point being, you've really got to be aware of translation differences. I find the best way--short of learning Greek & Hebrew-- is to read several different translations of the verse, including literal translations like Young's Literal. It then becomes easier to seperate the original meaning from the translator's bias.

p.s. I see you use the name Yeshua, eh? I love it! As a Jewish believer myself, I love to hear the name Yeshua rather than Jesus. Not that there's anything wrong with the name "Jesus", but it's all Greek to this Jew. :-) Besides, it makes more sense to call our Jewish Messiah by his Jewish name anyhow. :-)

Yeah, I agree Judah, on both! It can be intersting how a meaning may be hidden in any version you read and only obvious in another. Short of learning Hebrew & Greek (which I plan to do in my life sometime), I personally stay with the KJ version for doctrinal issues. Seems there was less hidden agenda in that version than the others, but I could be wrong. Once I learn Hewbrew and Greek though, I figure I will get closer.

My legal birth name is "Thinker" which I have paid a price for over the years in school. It would seem strange if everyone called me "Rock" and then someone translated that and called me "petra" or soemthing like that. When Yeshua walked on this earth, He was then called by everyone "Yeshua", not "Jesus".

By changing His name it seems to lose His Jewish background, which everyone needs to remember!

I am not a fan of the NIV but there are quite a few problems with the original KJV.

Namely that since it was written, other manuscripts have come to light that are earlier than the manuscripts available to the KJV translators. That is why the NKJV was revised in 1881 and the RSV in 1936/1952 came developed off this. I beleive also the NASB was influenced by the NKJV in 1881.

Further there is the problem that the English Language has changed in meaning since 1611 (example : the word "Ghost") and therefore other words should be used in preference to convey the original meaning. And then there is the subtle distinctions in terms of meaning between American English and British English.

I would not compare the NIV with the KJV but instead compare the NIV with a better, later translation.

Also last century we had the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, texts of Nag Hamedi and therefore, we need to constantly ask ourselves as to what the best translation with the earliest manuscripts is. This is a dynamic not a static subject and therefore I would expect minute adjustments to occur.

I dont doubt for minute that the original translators of the KJV were men of integrity but we are in a better position than they are in that we have "newer" manuscripts available to us. Had they had them then, they would have been used.

So the problems you have noted - well they might have good reason to be the case. So I would have to check with the Greek on a case-by-case basis to know if the NIV translators are taking liberties with the text.

Cheers

Stephen Howe, while I agree that there have been new discoveries I am not aware of any that contradict what the KJV gives us. Also, I know the KJ language is a bit off from what our english is of today, but taking the KJV as a whole gives the reader a good idea of the language is actually saying.

After seeing how different versions of the Bible can twist or outright remove/create text based on hidden agendas, I tend to take new versions with a grain of salt. I would never base nor dismiss a doctine on what I read in modern versions.

I enjoy reading other versions, but stick with the KJV on basic doctine.

Thanks for the post!

Richard says that KJB will soon be unavailable. I think that this is entirely wrong. Everywhere on the internet I can find the KJB.

The good thing about modern versions is that often they are copyright, so it restricts their full public access.

Yeah, it would be hard to ever get rid of our Bibles. I have it on all my computers, my MP3 play and even my usb thumb drive. It looks like it will hold out until at least the Lord's return :)

This is a very hot topic....I am a King James only advocate....Fellow Christians who Like their NIV don't take kindly to attacks on their Bible...

It seems how I feel when somebody attacks our Lord Jesus..... I have never converted one person to a King James only, and have mostly been discouraged...but yet I feel the Lord has placed this on my heart...

I am down to the argument that....God's word is a fire and a Hammar..and When I read my King James version it is not Long before the fear of the Lord is upon me...I will ask them to test that against their modern version....

Has any one specfic argument worked for you? I will also to try and show some your website....

Also, I have really been looking into the History, and it's funny I was trying to get an original Greek Septuagint, I even hear they are restoring one with the original book of Daniel in it ( that I guess Jerome did not copy from, he used theodotion septuagint for the book of daniel) of all the books...lol's

You quote the majority text....and the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus..I thought that was the better manuscripts..and the majority texts (byzantine) are based on the textus receptus ( or recieved text),,, the 5 majority texts +1 Vulgate and what Eramsus had viewing acess to...Enlighten me

sorry about spelling it's 3:00 am..to lazy to check..lol's

Christian Brother, I was not the one who wrote the post, it was one I had a long time ago from an email that was sent to me.

I personally do not try to get anyone away from the NIV, but if a person wants to debate doctrine with me, they had better be able to prove it in the KJV along with Strongs or it will not hold water with me. I figure that in just about any modern version of the Bible there is enough to get a person saved and lead them to follow the Holy Spirit. For my own studies, I use many different versions, but fall back to KJV and Strongs as the final word.

Recently, I found that the way a passage was translated in the New Living Translation actually made a passage much more understandable and solved an issue I had with the passage for a number of years. Of course, it was there in the Strongs also, but I had not noticed that point of view until I read the NTL.

The primary point of posting this article was mainly to get the NIV groupies to back off. Some can be a real pain looking down their nose to KJV'rs, but there are a great deal of errors in the NIV and they need to know it.

Steven posts: "I am not a fan of the NIV but there are quite a few problems with the original KJV.

Hi Steven. You really have your facts mixed up.
First, generally speaking most manuscripts discovered since 1611 support the KJB readings rather than the modern versions.

Secondly, most MVs are based on two mss. that they like to call the "oldest and best". If you really want to know more about what these 2 mss. really say, see my study here.

http://brandplucked.webs.com/oldestandbestmss.htm

Thirdly, your dates are all mixed up. The NKJV was not revised in 1881, nor was the NASB influenced by the NKJV.

The end result for you is that you do not have nor believe in the existence of any Bible in any language that is the complete, inspired and 100% true Holy Bible. That is where most of Christianity is today.

All of grace.
