Spotted this today at: www.dansherman.com The company www.CripsAds.com now provides a method to place text advertisements (similar to the Google Adsense text advertisiements) in your blogs and RSS feeds.
By using the advertisements in your feed, you can dish up the enter text of the items instead of requiring the person to view you site to read them. The advertisements will be there in the feed items along with the content. For those that syndicate your posts, they will see the full content of the post along with those text advertisements.
This can provide an added revenue from busy blogs. The flip side is that for some this may actually reduce the traffic they receive. Quite a number of people are what I would call "ad-phobic", and run at the first site of advertisements. This may reduce your traffic. Others might be less apt to post trackbacks to your site.
I am sure there will be ad blockers come out to strip the advertisements and a number of people will use them, but I am also sure that quite a number of people will not bother unless the advertisements are abusive.
One of the greatest advertising methods of a blog is simply to promote products you know and use in a method of sharing the recommendation with others instead of pushing the product on them.
Data Feeds (RSS, etc.) are still barely warming up, the flood is coming and with the flood will be people making a lot of money from them.
