January 2006 Entries

The battle is finally over, NBC cancelled the show due to not being able to find sponsors and low ratings.  The move of hundreds of thousands of people go the victory!  Well done!

I was look around the new Google Video center and found the following:

This is numerous videos from a show called “Prophecy Watch”.  I did not have time yet to go through many of them, but the ones I did view were interesting.  Give them a look!

I read a blog today about someone whose grandmother was a strong support for the Christian faith in his family and was decidedly very dedicated to her faith.

This got me to thinking about my grandmother and just how her faith was an anchor to our family.  After a little reflection, appears that many families are the same, many have that special person that is the primary grounding force in the family, constantly urging family into a relationship with Yeshua, or a deeper walk in faith.

My grandmother gave her heart to Yeshua at young age and never departed.  While she was not perfect, she did continue in the faith through many trails over the years.  While I was still quite young, she gave me a Bible, which I cared for as being something special throughout the years, even when I was an agnostic and did not really know God, that book was still special to me.  When I gave my heart to Yeshua in 1990, that Bible was my main Bible and I still use it today, even though it is quite worn.

I have seen in other families, the anchor of the family passes away and suddenly it seems that the family falls apart (unsaved ones) if there is not another to pick up the responsibility.

I thank God for these anchors in our lives!

It is sad to start the new year with a focus on trash like the show “the book of Daniel”.  Clearly, NBC is not listening yet to the people.  They have received over 500,000 emails against the show and it still continues.  Guess they need more mail and their sponsors need to be informed of how people feel.

I received this post in email today which contains a method to let your voice be heard by the sponsors.

Despite receiving nearly a half-million emails, NBC still intends to begin their new series The Book of Daniel next Friday. While NBC refuses to release the sponsors of the program, AFA has identified 10 potential sponsors. Send them an email asking them not to sponsor the show. Ask local advertisers on your NBC affiliate to pull their advertising from the local station if they carry The Book of Daniel.

The network is promoting "The Book of Daniel" as a serious drama about Christian people and the Christian faith. The characters include: Daniel Webster, a drug-addicted Episcopal priest; his alcoholic wife; his son, a 23-year-old homosexual Republican; his daughter, a 16-year-old drug dealing daughter; a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop's daughter; his lesbian secretary who is sleeping with his sister-in-law; and a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus who talks to the priest.

The writer for the program is Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Catholic recovery," and is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus. "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true," he said.

Aidan Quinn, who plays Rev. Webster, said if the show offends some Catholics, "I don't really care..."

Take Action Now! Time is Short!

What can you do:

  1. Print out the AFA pass along sheet and distribute it in your Sunday School class and at your church this Sunday. Ask your pastor to urge members to call their local NBC affiliate asking the station not to air the program. [ http://www.afa.net/passalong/pdf/nbc_bookofdaniel.pdf ]

  2. Contact local advertisers on your NBC affiliate and ask them to pull their advertising from the local affiliate if it carries the show.
