After the recent Windows update, when I would right click on the desktop, my system would take long period of time to respond, or no longer respond, the screen appeared froze and refused to update any more.

While browsing the task list, I noticed a file called “verclsid.exe” in the task list.  Killing this process seemed to restore usability of the system again.  I dug a bit around the net and found that this is an error in the recent update and MS recommends removing that update.  Some pointed to simply going into the \Windows\System32 folder and renaming the verclsid.exe to verclsid.bak (or to any name).  I did the renamed the file and the system seems to work fine!

From the sounds of it, the new Windows Vista (Microsoft's future operating system to replace Windows XP) is due for public beta shortly.  That will be nice to play with!  I have seen a few videos on the differnt features coming out.  Can hardly wait for time to play with it!

Here are a few links for more info on Windows Vista and what makes it so new and exciting:

This site allows you to select your favorite artists and then it builds a custom radio station around that artists and similar artists.  It allows you to create many different custom stations and switch between them with a click of button.  Prety cool!

For a little different view of bands, the following links builds out maps of bands that relate to each other.  I have to admit that sometimes I wonder how a few of them relate, but it is still interesting.

This is an interesting site that breaks down the complex contruction of matter to subatomic levels such as protons, neutrons, quarks, leptons, photons, electrons, etc.

Easy introduction for all ages!
